Question of the day. How did the Redondo Beach Treasurer’s salary become so out of balance compared to best practices of other cities?

It began in 1983. Language was added to the charter that changed the job from part time to full time including a full time salary with an automatic increase! The management practices of the previous treasurer demonstrated that full time status was not required. Nevertheless the salary continued to increase to $130,000 until 2005 when the new city council (myself included) reduced and capped the pay.

Isn’t 30 years enough? Let’s stop the abuse of our charter and fix this office. Mark your ballot Steve Diels and mail it today.
