Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce supports a YES vote on Measure CT.

MEASURE CT:  Reduction of Hours and Salary for City Treasurer – SUPPORT

Last year, the Redondo Chamber Local Issues Committee voted to support Steve Diels in his 2013 bid to be the City Treasurer, in large part due to his promise to reform the position and save the city money. Thus far, Diels has been successful in fulfilling his campaign promise. In June 2014, the city council unanimously voted to support an agenda item that will reduce the city treasurer’s salary from $116,952 plus benefits to $25,000, effective April 1, 2015. This will result in an annual savings of $126,379 to the city tax payers.

The final step to completing the reform is the passage of Measure CT this November. Measure CT is a City Council initiated measure that would amend the Charter of the City of Redondo Beach by eliminating the requirement that the City Treasurer shall devote full time to the duties of the office. Additionally, Measure CT would clarify that the City Treasurer has the authority to audit all moneys collected by the City from any source.
